Please do not use this space for discussion, comments, etc. unrelated to this narrow topic matter. All such comments will be moved to a more appropriate thread in order to keep this thread clean and useful.

Please follow the pattern established below, with the institution advertising as the commenter's identity, followed by a full description in the body of the text.

Millsaps College invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure-track visiting appointment for the 2017-2018 academic year in the Department of Classical Studies. The successful candidate will teach six courses (three a semester). We seek a broadly trained generalist to teach Greek and Latin at all levels, and one or more courses in translation, including a course on gender and sexuality. The successful candidate should also demonstrate potential for scholarly excellence as well as a commitment to teaching at a liberal arts college and participating in the life of the department. Candidates with PhD in hand by the appointment (Aug. 1, 2017) are preferred, but ABDs may be considered.

Applications should include a cover letter, CV, three letters of reference, unofficial graduate transcripts, and a teaching portfolio that contains a teaching philosophy and evidence of teaching effectiveness. The Department of Classics at Sewanee: The University of the South invites applications for a one-year appointment as visiting assistant professor in Classical Archaeology and Classical Languages to start in August 2017.

The successful candidate will have completed a Ph.D. in Classical Archaeology, Classics, or Anthropology with an emphasis on ancient material culture, or related fields. The position requires demonstrated teaching ability, especially in Latin and classical archaeology, and a strong commitment to innovative, effective teaching in the liberal arts tradition.  The teaching load is 3/3, and will include courses in archaeology, material culture, and introductory and intermediate Latin.
